Wiper Switches

The wipers are essential equipment on a vehicle. They remove water and other debris from the windshield. The wipers are engaged by a button or switch of some kind. Often wiper switches are combined with other controls like the wand on the steering column. These may combine several functions like wiper speed, turn signals, headlights, etc. The actuator for the wipers is the button, lever, or slide that turns them on. The actual wiper switch is the device that turns the mechanical function of turning on the wipers into an electrical signal. That signal is moved on down the line to the wipers which receive the current and begin to clean the windshield. The replacement of the wiper switch is usually not too bad of a job if the switch is in the dash. Switches on the steering column may be a bit more difficult as they might require removal of the steering wheel which requires special tools.
