Trunk Lid Solenoids
The trunk is a handy creation. Some storage in a car comes in handy in many ways. It is especially convenient when the trunk can be opened by pressing a button or pulling a lever in the cabin of the car. Many trunk opening devices are simply mechanical and pulling the lever releases the lock on the trunk. But luxury vehicles often have electronic trunk lid release. This is accomplished by the use of a solenoid. Solenoids are metal helixes that become electromagnets when exposed to light current. These can affect many different types of mechanical devices. The electromagnet can be used to open or close valves, or in this case to release the trunk lid. Many vehicles employ a combination of mechanical and solenoid devices to accomplish actions in a vehicle. The trunk lid is no exception. The solenoid is usually placed near the trunk lock and releases as the electromagnet is activated.
