Temperature Sending Switches, Temp. Sending Sensors
Temperature can be a critical element to making sure that a vehicle is running properly. Too high a temperature can cause overheating and the burning out of parts of the car. Too low a temperature means that the vehicle is not going to operate at its best. Temperature sensors and sending switches ensure that the engine can operate at good temperatures. Temperature sensors are the devices that detect the temperature. The switch is the mechanism that is set off if the temperature is incorrect. It sends a signal to the computer or directly to the warning system so the driver can be alerted to the problem. The temperature sending switch responds to changing resistances in the coolant. At different temperatures, the resistance of the coolant is different. The temp sending switch then sends a low voltage signal to the computer and the computer activates the dash light.
