Car Shocks, Auto Struts, Discount Monroe Shocks & Struts
Shock and struts are a part of the suspension system in a vehicle. They smooth out the ride and decrease impact upon all the components of a car. Shocks absorb impact. Shocks operate on mechanical principles. They are usually hydraulic cylinders that absorb impacts. The struts are large springs that suspend the body of the car. Struts also take impact and lessen it for the car and all its components. Shocks and struts both hold the car up and relieve impacts in normal driving. They should be checked on in major tune ups to see that they are functioning correctly and that hydraulic fluid is at the proper level. Shocks and struts are located at each wheel. There are several variations that may be used for these. Some shocks are air filled instead of liquid filled. Some are adjustable. Some function mechanically differently than others, such as the telescoping shock.
