Rear Defroster Switches
Rear defroster is an element of many cars today. It requires a special back window that is equipped with wires that heat up and melt ice that has accumulated on the back window. It can save time and keep the back window unscratched by scraping instruments. The rear defroster is turned on somewhere near the driver’s control panel. The switch, button, or dial may be located on the instrument panel, near the light switch, on the dash or steering wheel. The switch is the actuator turns the rear defroster on. Some rear defrosters will turn off automatically when the wires in the back window reach a certain temperature. The rear defroster switch can be replaced if it malfunctions. Usually the dash must be removed to access it. Some electrical experience is a bonus since the replacement is really just a job of unwiring and rewiring the switch.
