Power Steering Pressure Switches
Power steering is a great convenience that nobody really thinks about until it is broken. Sometimes the culprit is the power steering switch. A symptom of a bad power steering switch is that the idle is affected as well. Idle may go up as the power steering is strained. A faulty switch will make it very difficult to turn the steering wheel especially when eh engine is cold and first starting up in the morning. As the engine warms up and the RPMs stabilize the power steering may get better. But it is back to the same old problems next time the engine is started up cold. The power steering switch is relatively easy to replace. It is usually located under the car near the power steering unit. The switch is responsible for the control of valves that operate the power steering cylinder and are linked to the steering system.
