Glow Plug Sensors
The glow plug is an electrical plug that is used to heat up the combustion chamber in a diesel engine. Diesel engines need some warming before the combustion can take place. They will not start up if they are too cold. The glow plug is designed to heat things up a bit more quickly and get the engine started so it can warm up on its own. The glow plug sensor detects when it is needed and when it is not needed. It is essentially a thermometer with a device to turn it on and off. When the glow plug sensor malfunctions it can cause big problems. If it does not come on, that means that the engine will not start until the exterior temperature warms up. If it does not turn off the engine may get too hot and cause damage to the engine and other components of the vehicle.
