Door Jamb Switches, Auto Door Jamb Switches
The door jamb switch on a vehicle is located in the jamb of the door and is meant to turn interior lights on and off as the door opens and closes. When car doors are open, the overhead lights in the cabin of the car remain on. This is a great thing for unloading people and groceries in the dark, but not so good if the door doesn’t close all the way and runs the battery down. On the other hand, being left in the dark when getting out of the car is a problem too. Replacing a malfunctioning door jamb switch requires some electrical ability. It is very easy to access, as it is in the door jamb and is removed easily. The hard part is the wiring. Once the old part is out, it is important to compare it with the new part to ensure that the correct part is going in.
