Cruise Control Units
Cruise control is a nice perk in a luxury vehicle. When it breaks it is not the end of the world, especially when repairs can be very expensive. Drivers who undertake to fix cruise control units themselves can save lots of money and regain the use of cruise control in their vehicles. Most problems with cruise control are fairly easy to diagnose. Most problems stem from the computer, sensor, or servo. A good first attempt at fixing the cruise control is to clean the servo; this may be enough to solve the problems. If the cruise control malfunctions by accelerating above the set speed, the problem is likely with the servo unit, which takes information from the sensors and sends out electrical signals that adjust speeds. If the cruise control works intermittently or not at all, the culprit is likely the computer. The whole unit may also be replaced.
