Camshaft Sensors, Crankshaft Sensors
The camshaft is a mechanism that opens poppet valves which are important to the operation of the pistons. The opening of the poppet valves is critical to the timing of the entire engine system. The camshaft and crankshaft help to regulate this timing. The camshaft sensor ensures that the cams (knobs that open the poppet valves) are opening the valves at the correct time. If there is a problem with the timing belt it could possibly have to do with the camshaft or camshaft sensor. Though it sounds like a minimal component, the camshaft sensor is very important to the function of the vehicle. When the camshaft is not working properly, it could mean that the vehicle will not run very well, or will not run at all. The sensor can be more difficult to replace than many other components on the vehicle and it is very important that the sensor is working properly.
