Bowl Vent. Solenoids
Solenoids are devices that are electromechanical. They control the opening or closing of valves. The bowl vent solenoid is used to control the valves in the carburetor. The bowl vent solenoid is open when the car is off so that any accumulated fumes can be released. When the car in on, the bowl vent solenoid is closed. Most car models have two solenoids to aid the carburetor. The bowl vent solenoid is open when the car is off. The purge solenoid is open when the car is on. Both work together to vent fumes and exhaust away from the carburetor. They also allow air and vapors to enter the carburetor. They keep the carburetor functioning properly and the entire engine working at optimal performance levels. The fumes released when the vehicle is off are collected from the bowl vent into a canister where they are stored until the car is started again and the fumes can be handled by the intake manifold.
