A/C & Heater Blower Switches
The blower switch on a car controls the air speed at which the A/C comes out. It also turns the A/C on and off. The switch comes in two types, rotary and slide. To replace the switch is fairly easy. It is connected directly to the blower resister which is usually located near or on the fan and is not too difficult to replace. Sometimes when one or two speeds go out on the A/C, it can be remedied by replacing the blower switch. Dealerships will charge you over $150 for the part and replacement labor. For someone with a bit of experience, the job should not be too difficult with the help of a repair manual specific to the car being worked on. There are electrical wires involved so do be careful. It is best to disconnect the battery before beginning any repair that involves electrical work.
